I had a lot of fun putting on my psychic hat to predict what the 2024 Top 50 Prospects Rankings might look like. This doubles as a Bold Predictions article, so I definitely go hard on some of my calls here. Ages are as of 2024 Opening Day. Here is the Predicting the 2024 Top 50 Dynasty Baseball Prospects Rankings:

1) Jackson Chourio MIL, OF, 20.1 – Chourio will do to the upper minors in 2023 what he did to the lower minors in 2022. Milwaukee will call him up in late September as it will be an all hands on deck scenario as they make their playoff push. Not only will he hit well in September, but he’ll go on a Randy Arozarena circa 2020 playoff homer binge which sparks a deep playoff run for Milwaukee. You will have never seen hype like this.

2) Jasson Dominguez NYY, OF, 21.2 – Dominguez will be undeniable in 2023. He’ll get to Double-A and his hard hit data, speed, stats, and talent will all be mighty mighty similar to Chourio. The restrictor plates are about to come off his hype to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But let’s keep that on the down low, it’s not exactly street legal.

3) Emmanuel Rodriguez MIN, OF, 21.1 – Two words  … Baby Bonds. He’ll shake off that knee injury and put up power, speed and OBP numbers reminiscent of the GOAT himself. He’ll also bring his K% down to a reasonable enough rate to have everyone buying in hard.

4) James Wood WAS, OF, 21.6 – The strikeout rate will climb closer to 25% at High-A and then will eclipse 30% when he gets a cup of joe at Double-A, but all of that will be small beans compared to the destruction he will leave in his wake. We know the power/speed Statcast data will be popping, and the stats will look exactly like the 6’7”, 240 pound Wood looks like, a man amongst boys.

5) Jordan Lawlar ARI, SS, 21.8 – Double-A might shave a little upside off the top of Lawlar’s profile in reports after the 2023 season, but a 122 wRC+ at the level where he shows off impact across the board production will do just fine.

6) Druw Jones ARI, OF, 20.4 – History will repeat itself for the 3rd time. Dropping Carroll and Lawlar in rankings even a smidgen because of their shoulder surgeries turned out to be a mistake, and the same will be true for Jones. He’ll hit the ground running in full season ball, showing an uptick in power and an unmistakable all category upside that will be hard to match.

7) Elly De La Cruz CIN, SS/3B, 22.3 – Cruz will make his MLB debut in the 2nd half and put up a 38% K% with a .176 BA in 15 games before getting sent back down. He will get called back up in September and look a little better with a 32% and .232 BA in 10 games to close out the season. The cold feet on rankings lists will begin, but Judge had a similar rough first go of it, and Cruz is on that same path. Don’t panic at the first sign of an adjustment period.
